Fela Kuti

Fela Kuti's chosen path was in his genes. Many across the continent and the world are still interested in tales that are now easily available at a simple click of a mouse. With a picture of his background one would not be so wrong to assume that rebellion was a part of his DNA. He was born on October 15, 1938 in Abeokuta, Nigeria. His parents were political activists. His mother, Funmilayo Anikulapo Kuti was a feminist and anti-colonialist. His father, Reverend Israel Oludotun Ransome-Kuti, was the first president of the Nigerian teachers' union.
