Japan is considered a unique culture as it has resisted influence from outside, preferring to stick to its own traditions. Nowhere is this more evident than in their cuisine. The Japanese have made an art form of food, believing it's just as important to "eat with the eyes, as it is with the mouth". Japanese food is served with either rice or noodles, and is a combination of meat, fish, vegetables or tofu (bean curd). Being an island nation, seafood features prominently in Japanese culture.
