The science and art of designing and constructing buildings and other physical structures has been of man's interest since his very beginning. And throughout history, Man has created some incredible structures. In Episode 1 we take a look at the incredible man - made creations of both Stonehenge and the Pyramids of Giza. Stonehenge is a magnificent structure, built almost undoubtedly as a place of worship, as the stones align perfectly with the sunrise on the summer solstice. It is still debated by scholars today why the site of Stonehenge is particularly significant, as the builders had to transport the extremely large stones 250 kilometres from North Pembrokeshire, weighing a massive 50 tons Each. The Pyramids, built as tombs for the country's Pharaohs and their consorts, are incredible structures, and the Pyramid of Khufu at Giza stands today as the only one of the Seven Wonders of the World still in existence. These enigmatic creations still leave both architects and scholars alike wondering at the purposes of their many intriguing interior features. Man is fortunate species, and we now posses a treasure house of Man's Greatest Achievements.
