In Episode 3 of Man's Greatest Ahievements we take a look at the beauty and amazing period of Renaissance art, as well as the prominent artists of the Renaissance period. Leonardo Da Vinci, was born on April 15, 1452, in Vinci, Da Vinci was an Italian Renaissance polymath: painter, sculptor, architect, musician, scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist and writer whose genius, perhaps more than that of any other figure, epitomized the Renaissance humanist ideal. Leonardo has often been described as the archetype of the Renaissance man, a man of 'unquenchable curiosity' and 'feverishly inventive imagination'. Michaelangelo, a prominent artist of the Renaissance period is still an infamous household name today. Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni spent his early years in the Italian village of Caprese, a child destined to be shaped by the men in his life. Michelangelo was an Italian artist famous for his sculptures, paintings, poems, and even his architecture. He was also largely responsible for the development of the Mannerism movement and was a participating founder of the High Renaissance. His talent was discovered at a young age when he was brought into Lorenzo de'Medici's school of art and the Medici home. Here he was raised amongst artistic masterpieces as well as revolutionary intellectual theories. He grew to become one of the greatest artists of all time and still today his name is recognized throughout the world as a creator of masterpieces. 'He's a painter, he's a sculptor, he's an architect. All of those activities are linked together by drawing because he prepares everything on paper before he begins to work. And that's what we see here, we see with these ninety drawings, him working meticulously to prepare all of his works.
