One thing that seems to unite clubs and fans alike is disaster. The most memorable event to befall a club happened on February 6, 1958, to Manchester United FC. Their plane, carrying the senior team and a number of officials and journalists crashed in Munich. Twenty-two of the passengers, eight of them players, died either at the scene, or later in hospital. Known as the Munich Air Disaster, its impact almost brought one of the world_s most famous sporting clubs to its knees. But to the credit of the coach and remaining players, they soldiered on, dedicating their efforts to their fallen team mates, and ensuring that “Busby_s Babes” will never be forgotten.
